Why play based learning?
Brain science and learning theory shows children under the age of 7 need opportunities to develop the social and emotional parts of the brain.

Many children experience failure in core curriculum areas due to their frontal cortex not being ready for this type of learning in early years of schooling. This sees them develop a negative view of school and of themself as a learner.

Play fosters the Four Cs of 21st century learning - communication, creativity, critical thinking and collaboration.
How will it look?
Term 1 - Sally will be full-time. Nic will work 9.00-12.00pm daily supporting NE. Sam and David will provide full-time learning support.
Term 2-4 - Nic and Sally will work full-time. Sam will continue learning support in the mornings. David will continue to provide support for Miro full-time.
We will have one class of Y0-2 children with two separate home groups. Your child is likely to be taught by both teachers but one will be their and your primary point of contact.

Children will have a soft start to the day, the first 30mins will be based around play and oral language.
Play will be used as a supported independent activity during the day while teachers (4) provide instructional teaching.
