CLEFT SENTENCES
They are used to emphasize a
particular part of a sentence. In a cleft sentence, one element of the
sentence is shifted from its normal place in the sentence into a
separate clause. The emphasis in the sentence changes in a cleft sentence,
depending on what is shifted.
"Max asked the teacher a question abouth math"// It was Max who asked a question to the teacher about math
CAUSATIVES
We use them when we want to talk about something that someone else did for us or for another person.
Joe got a friend to take his photo// Joe had a friend take his photo// Joe had his photo taken by a friend
