During the war against Spain, Roosevelt was in the front lines and, to show that they were "in no danger", he walked back and forth through the volleys of gunshots going past him.
When Theodore was in the west, a man in a bar came at him and Roosevelt knocked him out cold which earned him respect among the cowboys.

He was inspired by his father and began to build his body by doing outdoor activities and learned to box from a hired boxing teacher
His father bought his way out of fighting in the war which would later drive himself to go to battle
