Setting (District 12 (Poor People who lives in District 12 has a hard life…

- - - - We can infer that food shortage caused people to die and it indeed was a big problem because getting shot in a bullet is very harsh but they said they would rather die like that.
    - - This explains to us that food was so important to them, that they would even risk their lives and go out to the woods to get food. (Even if they knew it was illegal and they could die at any moment out there.)
      - It also explains to us that to survive in District 12, they had to risk their lives or they can't even survive.
    - - This explains to us that they needed something to buy foods and it was uncommon that they were so precious to District 12.
      - Also, this explains that they had to make sacrifices or take risks to survive in District 12.
  - - - This evidence shows us that they all had to work very hard in district 12 and the works they did was very harsh. But I don't think they didn't earn much from working that hard.
    - - We can infer that even the peacekeepers had a hard life because they were just as equal as the people who live in District 12. They don't get special treatments just because they are peacekeepers.
    - - I can infer that food was something very hard to get for the poorer people in district 12 but it was something they need to live so we are able to infer that Poorer People who lives in District 12 has a harder life than the richer people.
    - - Cookies are common food that we can get easily but in District 12, it is a luxury poor people can't afford so this shows that they had a very hard life.
    - - This shows that people in District 12 has a hard life because even the peacekeepers aren't treated nicely.
  - - - This explains to us that richer people were mean, even to their children, because he got hit in his face just because he burned a bread.
    - - This explains that richer people were mean to the poorer people because they are calling the poorer one's brats and aren't even letting them searching for foods in the trash.
      - Also, we can infer that they aren't treating the poorer ones as equals and they don't even care about them like they are nothing in their lives, just things around them.
  - - - District 12 is one of the last districts (the very last district- District 13) so I think they got less things like foods than other districts. From this evidence, I can explicate that the most of the people in district 12 weren't really with the government and didn't agree every single thing with them.
    - - Again, I can infer that not every single person agreed with the government.
      - Also, I can infer that the government had absolute authority and chose whatever they wanted to do. If they listened to people, they probably just listen to the richer people or district, not poorer ones like District 12 and 13.
  - - - This shows us that even they live together in a particular area, they don't know each other very well probably because they aren't supposed to be talking about personal things since they are always under the governors' eyes.
    - - This shows that they barely had any freedom because their private conversations were recorded and were sent off to the government. Also tells us that governement had absolute authority to rule.
  - - - In richer districts like District 1 or 2, people volunteering to be part of the Hunger Games is common but in District 12, people don't want to be part of the Hunger Games as if they know they will die.
    - - Because district 12 is poorer than other districts, they already have less chance of winning because they get less training and less food to eat than other tributes.
      - Character: This also tells us that Haymitch is a big laughingstock who isn't very supportive. And he is only drinking while he is supposed to be their mentor and give advice to them
    - - This shows that because of the district status, District 12 isn't even trying to win the Hunger Games and just knows that they are lose and the Career Tributes from wealthier districts are going to win.
    - - Even though she didn't actually try yet, she is just saying that she knows that she is not going to win the Hunger Games. This shows that people in District 12 didn't really have any hope about winning the Hunger Games.
    - - They just know that the Career Tributes are going to win. We know this because from the start where they are getting those materials they are provided with, Katniss just knows that the Career Tributes are going to get it.
  - - - Even if they live in the same country, Capitol has plenty of everything but District 12 has less than needed which shows a big difference.
    - - This shows the different lifestyles the rich and poor people live. We can already see a big difference in the elevator and see that District 12 is a very poor district compared to other districts. It is the last district since district 13 was destroyed.
    - - We can infer that she has a much harder time in District 12 than in Capitol.
- - - - This tells us that in their society they weren't allowed to speak up. Even if they did speak up, they would either be punished or the people there wouldn't be listening.

    - - This shows that the Capitol is just wanting people to die and is very cruel because they are making the Hunger Games as hard as possible so it's harder for them to survive.
    - - Again this shows that the government barbaric because they are just letting them die in the cold and still thinks being part of Hunger Games is a big honor.
    - - There are so many people taking care of the tributes that kind of keep them inside and give them no freedom because they have so many people looking out for them.
    - - Even though they know that Katniss is from District Twelve, they are kind of insulting and saying bad things about District 12.
    - - Even though they disagree or they don't like it they have to do it because Haymitch told them to and we can see that they have no choice.
    - - Even if the tributes want to die, they can't because they don't even have the freedom to choose to die or not. They want them to die harshly in the Hunger Games.
    - - They even harm the people who help them and this shows that they are very cruel and close minded. This also shows that people who are under control of the Capitol, like District 12 aren't allowed to speak up.
    - - This shows that they are always under the eyes of some people which gives them no freedom.
    - - Even though she doesn't want to do act in a way because they are going to bet on how long she will live. This shows that Capitol gives no freedom to people because they are stopping her to express herself but forcing her to act in a particular way.
    - - This shows that Katniss thinks that they are taking her future away which is true because they are training her not to express herself.
    - - Even though if they don't like it, and they really disagree to it, they have to do it because it's a life and death situation and this also shows that they give people no choice or freedom at all.
    - - This might mean something nice but it also has a bad side because she is saying that she doesn't look District 12 as a decent district.
    - - This shows that the Gamemakers which is part of Capitol is cruel because they are the ones who make the arena and they make people starve and die because they want them to.
    - - They think people dying is a very fun thing to watch and they are trying to kill/hurt people on purpose which shows that they are very cruel and violent.
    - - This shows that the people in Capitol are very brutal and violent because it says that they want to see some deaths and people getting hurt is a big excitement for them.
        This also shows that they don't care about people's lives.
    - - We can infer that the Capitols give them no freedom because even though they live in the same country, they don't really know about each other's lifestyle.
    - - This shows that the richer part like the Capitol is cruel and violent because from his speech, we know that Cato did something cruel and violent to Peeta and he says he is no shape to raid them which means he is really hurt and he hurled him.
    - - This also shows that the Capitol is very cruel because Cato thinks killing people isn't a big deal for him and he has his own way of killing people.
    - - This illustrates that the Gamemakers (part of Capitol) are very cruel and brutal because they enjoy watching people die and they want them to do so.
  - - - Before even knowing them, they judge them by their appearance and the best-looking or the richer people the most then the poorer ones or the poor-looking (Not that fancy) ones.
    - - Before even knowing what score Katniss would get she didn't cheer her up like others but she put her down and right after she told her that she shot an arrow towards the gamekeepers. But after she knew her score, she was so happy like she didn't do anything before.
    - - We can clearly see that the people who live in the Capitol thinks their outer appearances are very important, especially when it says a round belly isn't a sign of success. This also shows that District 12 is very poor and a lot of people die there.
- - - - Even when they are sleeping, they have to keep an eye out which is impossible and it also tells us that the government is cruel because they are making them kill others to survive.
    - - Even though the game has just started, people are already dead which shows that they can die any moment.
    - - This tells us that arena is a very dangerous place because one little mistake they make, they can die. This also tells us that the Gamemakers are cruel and mean because they are putting things like berries that can people instantly into the arena.
    - - This shows that the arena is a very dangerous place because they are under the Gamemakers’ control and they are pretty violent and cruel so they can change the arena and make it as dangerous as possible whenever they want to.
    - - Again, this shows that they can die any moment and even a small wasp can kill you in the arena.
    - - This show that the arena is very dangerous because some people can just walk on the ground and die. This also shows that Katniss is very clever because most of the people wouldn’t be able to figure that out.

  - - - They are trying to track them so that they don't lose a tribute and that means from then on, they can control the tributes and they will be under the eyes of the Gamemakers all the time.
    - - We can understand that there are a lot of cameras that can track Katniss which gives her no freedom.
        Also, this shows that Katniss is very aware thinks forward because she knows that she is getting tracked by the cameras.
    - - Because the cameras are tracking her and she has no freedom, she can't even express herself. I've noticed that she is better at keeping her emotions to herself since she came to the arena.
    - - Because the Capitol is controlling you, you can be like the capitol in the arena, being fancy, inappropriate and cruel.
- - - - This tells us that they can die any moment when they are out in the woods because they might get eaten by those wild animals. Also, I can connect this to my point about the food shortage before because some people go into the foods just to get some apples.
    - - This explains that the woods is a very dangerous place because without weapons they can die any second.
      - Also, it tells us that no matter how much they hate district 12, they need to be in there because it is too dangerous to live outside the fence.
- - - - This shows that wealthier districts got more things than the poorer districts and had much better lives.
      - It also explains to us that the poorer ones weren't treated equally by the government.
