- - - - Hunched shoulders, sunken faces, swollen knuckles can show the dullness and negativity of district 12. They don't have hope of having a better life.
    - - This shows that there aren't many happy, pleasant, cheery places in district 12.
  - - - While some people like Katniss, are searching in trash cans for scraps of food, there are people that trash food and give it to animals.
    - - We can see that even in district 12 the people have different social classes mostly divided by job
  - - - Since the baker has better life than many others and since she doesn't need others help to live her life, she doesn't care for the poorer people and ignore them, telling them bad things. Even within the same district there are people with different power.
  - - - If they had any hope or chance in winning the hunger games, they would have had volunteers but they have no hope so they don't volunteer even though winning the hunger games can give them a lot of glory and power.
    - - Very compared to other districts, they don't think it is worth the risk for a great honor since they have no hope. To add on, they only had 2 hunger game winners out of 74 games.
    - - Unlike the other wealthier districts, who are all wanting to be in the Hunger Games, the lower district like district 12 have no hope so they do not even prepare in advance. They just believe they are destined to loose and do not train people for the Hunger Games.
  - - - There is not even enough food for the peace keepers in district 12.
    - - The capitol doesn't allow the people to hunt or go to the area beyond district 12
      - The area around district 12 is dangerous
    - - Unlike the Capitol, looking old is good because you are surviving long.
      - This illustrates the contrast between the Capitol and District 12
      - This illustrates the terrible shortage of food and the harsh living conditions in district 12
  - - - This can influence them a lot in a negative way. They need to be especially good to be memorable. Also, when they did private sessions, district 12 was last so the gamemakers were hardly interested.

    - - Even though Katniss wants to go first, its always district 1, then 2, and so on and one so they are always last. This is by wealth and by distance from capitol.
- - - - The Gamemakers have power over the Hunger Games. They can attack the people in the arena and control their situations. Tributes have to look good to the Game Makers.
  - - - Like what Katniss says, people do not know what the arena will be like before the games
    - - This gives evidence that the Arena can be any kind of outdoor arena, and sometimes its actually arenas that are hard to survive (because of nature, not other tributes)
  - - - Unlike some of the other games, there are lots of landscapes and resources. The landscapes are the flat open ground, lake, woods, and cliffs. There are resources such as water and wood visible already.
    - - This tells us that there are food resources too that they can hunt like the rabbits.
  - - - The tracker jackers are one example of the tools in the Arena used to make action (make people hurt/fight). The Capitol wants to make the games interesting so they leave these things so the Hunger Games can be lively.
    - - They are using fire to try to drive tributes together and to create action. They need to continuously put tributes in danger to show their power and remind people of their weakness.
    - - They care about entertaining the audience.
    - - Trying to create competition and gory.
- - - - This shows how the Capitol usually executes people. They are very scary and strict against rebellion. They take selling weapons as rebellion.
    - - We can infer from this evidence that 1) it was forbidden for people to talk about the Capitol and 2) that there were consequences if they do because it says that Katniss's mother was scared to death when she did so.
    - - They have a very strict punishment even without trying to understand one's situation unless they are extremely sick.
    - - Any action against or threatening the capitol can be punished strictly. Although Katniss didn't get the punishment, what she says helps us infer that actions threatening the capitol will be punished.
  - - - Although this was just a prediction, we can see how the capitol is very strict with actions that can help rebellion
    - - The capitol doesn't want people to talk with each other about the Capitol since they are scared that the people will come together and rebell.
    - - The only reason the capitol would have reminders of the citizens weakness is because they are afraid of rebellion.
  - - - The capitol doesn't help the people who are starving and in need of help. However, they spend lots and lots of money buying luxuries they don't actually need.
    - - This is more evidence that the capitol doesn't take care of the citizens needs, but spend lots of money on their wants.
  - - - The capitol is very strict to block all communication between the districts.
    - - By the way Katniss call the other tributes not by their names but their looks and personalities, we can see how they do not have lots of social time with each other.
    - - they don't want districts to know about one other.
