define/w describe Ethernet
a networking technology standard based on bus topology.
started as a single piece of coaxial cable in the bus topology to connect several computers, enabling them to transfer data at a rate up to 3 Mbps
frames prevent any single machine form monopolizing the shared bus cable. second they the process of transmitting lost data more efficient.
segment sending a few frames of data whenever it detects that no other computer is transmitting.
