Develop the Innovation of Repositioning Bed to Labor-saving Caregivers
Objectives
To develop the Innovation of Repositioning Bed to Labor-saving Caregivers
To study the efficiency of the Repositioning Bed to Labor-saving Caregivers
Statement of the problem
Study purposes: To compare the effects of the supported butterfly-sitting maternal position with back massage in first stage of labor versus supine position in healthy mothers on pain level and duration of first stage.
To study and develop the innovationlabor-saving caregivers repositioning in patient
Method
first time that used the innnovation to develop and trial again
The questionnaire were used to: 1)Satisfaction with the Repositioning Bed by caregivers and nurses to trial the innovation and; 2) efficiency of the Repositioning Bed by expert
There were 17 samples in the intervention group and 9 samples in the control group.
Facial analog scale was used to evaluate labor pain levels in both pretest and posttest.
Cervix dilatation was recorded in the active phase (3-10cm).
Supported butterfly-sitting maternal position and back massage procedure included supported butterfly-sitting position for 15 minutes and massage at L1-sacrum for 5-10 minutes.
The supported butterfly-sitting maternal position and massage was intervened one time per hour until the cervix was fully dilated.
The control group was supported in the supine position during the first stage of labor without back massage.
There were 30 samples,15 were Register nurses, nurse teacher and 15 were Caregivers, nursing students 3 years up: from Boromarajonani College of nursing Phra-puttabat
the last time, Experimantal result
include criteria: have to care patient experience
Results
the Innovation of Repositioning Bed was Labor-saving of Caregivers and nurses had significantly shorter duration (mean=...., SD=....)
The mothers who were supported by the butterfly-sitting maternal position had significantly shorter duration (mean=4.52 hr., SD=2.2) of the first stage labor than the mothers who were in supine position (mean=8.55 hr., SD=6.3).
However, labor pain levels in the post-test of both groups were not significantly different.
Conclusion
The supporting butterfly-sitting maternal position was associated with a shorter duration of active phase in first stage of labor in healthy mothers.
