Boston Bombing Media Debacle
‘Here’s the truth. We don’t know’: How false reports of Boston bombing arrest left media outlets scrambling
The National Post, Associated Press
(Apr. 17, 2013)
MY OPINION
Conspiracy theorist here. Honestly, I believe this was all a ploy of the government to take our minds off of what was really going on at the time. I believe some media was in on it and other were just as confused as we were.
After watching so many government television shows. I don't believe that EVERYTHING displayed on those shows is false. There is a bit of truth to some of those things that happen on Scandal, House of Cards, West Wing, etc.
MY REACTION
After reading this article, I would love to say that I am shocked that news outlets would react in such a way, but I am not.
The media these days are in such a rush to be the first with "Breaking News" that they are forgetting about the quality of their news reporting. The viewers don't care about how many events you were the first to report on. They care about how exact the reports are.

DEVIL'S ADVOCATE
Let's flip it.
The world was in shambles and we want to know what is going on. It is the media's responsibility to get us the information as quickly as they can.
Let's get the information out there as quick as possible. If there are changes that need to be made to the initial report then that's fine. We aren't necessarily lying to the public. We are just reporting what we believe is true.
