Koe no Katachi (A Silent Voice)
Repetition
Hands reaching out - in the bridge falling, in that slope falling
In the end, girl falls but boy manages to reach out
Koi (as per legend) represents strungle and breaking out (i.e. dragon). In the film, this represents MC and IC.
Visual Style
Some shots are cut-off. As if isolated. Only the shoulder, the back, the hands, even in the recorded video in feris wheel, confrontation is cut-off
Beginning, MC walks carefree in the mid (after bullying and being bullied), rigid
In that slope, when MC looks at IC, and IC smiles sadly. Flashback occurs, where MC still views in guilt towards IC on bullying/selt resentment
Implied Suicide. Curtain. Not appeared. That suicide is a personal/private matter and not even the audience is afforded to it.
Auditory Style
Seems good but unable to judge much upon it.
Themes
Erasing some-one's ability to speak/listed is the worst
kind of violence
MC doesn't understand IC. Same way we don't understand IC. I.e. cleaning off desk, suicide attempt (because MC and IC feels they are responsible)
The hate themselves. They see no value.
That is why MC is shocked when her mother gives value to his
life (i.e. threatining to burn the money)
IC is happy being needed (feeding koi duty)
Teacher also turns a blind-eye
Meaningful communication only comes when you are willing to listed
Director: The film I wanted is something to say, you will be okay
Path to redemption
Others: I'm not sure I am a good person but I am trying to be better
