Pathophysiology
In chronic atrophic gastritis, the capacity to secrete gastric acid is reduced, and the levels of gastrin are increased to restore parietal cell activity (Hammer & McPhee, 2014).
The hypersecretion of acid is a factor related to the development of superficial gastric mucosal injury in acute erosive gastritis (Hammer & McPhee, 2014).
Epidemiology
The national administrative database (2009-2011) revealed with data showing standardized estimated prevalence rates of 6.3 per 100,000 population for eosinophilic gastritis (Medscape, 2017)
