History
The Age of New Stars - (Dark Period)
A brutal and chaotic age where civilization has fractured further into small tribes.
-
Dinosaur Rampages - (Dark Event) (Legacy)
Dinosaurs as well as other megafauna prove to be too powerful of adversaries for the survivors of the old world. Many try to push into lands they no longer own, angering the new wildlife which results in catastrophic backlash and setting back their progress.
Dinosaur family bonding - Bonded craters - (Dark Event)
Many of these terrifying dinosaurs gained a psionic link that allowed them to use empathy with each other. Many of the craters where dinosaurs have wide spread empathy are deemed uninhabitable and some of the most dangerous places on the moon shards. They call these Bonded craters.
(Dark Event) The rise of Gnass the Terrible
A massive Grey T rex twice the normal size, fell into primordial and survived due to it's massive constitution. It gained uncanny human like intelligence and seeks to control all the shards by moving from crater to crater. Though he has not yet learned to assimilate multiple bonded craters together.
Travel Triceratops - (Light Event)
Massive huge mouthed triceratops's make their way through the wastes raking through the sand for microbial life. The survivors have found that they can ride on these seemingly dumb beasts backs without invoking their ire most of the time, this gives an easy means for transportation when one can be found.
(Light Event) Cooperation Means Survival
A new form of organization is birthed as a standard for simply living: tribes. Survivors, beaten down by their new surroundings are forced into loosely tied groups with a simple, shared desire to avoid being killed. These tribes more often than not are violent and selfish, resulting in warbands slaughtering each other for hunting grounds and the like.
T-Rex Lunchtime (Dark Scene)
As the fighting broke out between two contending warbands, each looking to secure the limited farmland, the ensuing violence resulting in a roaming pack of T-Rexs to join in. All the remained at the end were blood stains and full bellies.
Taking the Plunge - (Light Event) (Legacy)
A scant few pits of primordial ooze still lay scattered about the Moonshards. These may serve as ritual sites for tribes that happen upon them, or as a way for daring individuals to gamble at greater power through the volatile mutations they cause.
Pits of ooze are seen as a source of mysterious power among intelligent creatures. Many have attributed a religious, spiritual, or transcendent quality to them for obvious reasons.
Despite their significance, the origin and effects of these pools is not well understood. Once people start jumping in it is only a matter of time until one of them becomes powerful or mad enough to kill the rest, making knowledge of what these pools actually do something of a diminishing resource.
10,000 Years of Sleep - (Dark Period)
(Not literally 10,000 Years)
What little is left of civilization falls into a deep slumber. Upon awakening they have lost their immortality, and memories of the old world seem like a dream.
The First To Die - (Legacy Dark Event)
These now ignorant people do not understand the context of their lives any more and begin to revert to a more primal, animalistic form, taking what they want and the rest be damned. Interpersonal conflict begins to brew, and tribal combat begins to be commonplace.
Thryndor's Conquest - (Dark Scene)
Thyndor Thornwinter awoke and began to explore his newfound psionic abilities. With his power, he began to amass people under his rulership and forged the first alliance to be seen of this new world. He set out to attempt to conquer as much land as he could, slaughtering those who would stand in his way with mind blasts.
(Light Scene) Clash At The Pit Of Origin
Fenronous, lost in his lust for power and flesh, begins to notice everyone else is awakening from their long slumbers. A few days later, he runs across a large group of people, lead by Thryndor Thornwinter. Fenrenous senses the immense power withing Thryndor's mind and attempts to eat him. Thryndor and his followers commit to a ferocious and bloody battle with Fenrenous. When the dust is settled, it is Thryndor who gets to dine.
Psionic Awakenings - (Dark Event)
In their sleep the world have been incredibly in hospitable. New life forms have emerged mysteriously and transform via mutation to stay plastic their environment. where this enhanced evolutionary process occurs minds have expanded giving psionic powers to certain species.
The New Moon - (Light Event)
While what is left of humanity sleeps and the Moonshards drift apart, new life emerges from the deepest craters. Primordial ooze accumulates in low areas, causing the rapid evolution from single celled bacteria to the megafauna seen today.
Aberrant Evolution - (Dark Event)
Certain creatures evolve as a species unto themselves. Biologically immortal and disconnected from the rest of evolutionary history, these Aberrations wander as they continue to evolve while still living.
The Insomnia of Fenronous - (Dark Event)
One man stands alone amits his sleeping country man. Fenronous was not affected by this unearthly sleep and walked the world changing as it did, not loosing his immortality. In his loneliness he lost his mind and flies into destructive psionic rages. Subsisting on eating his sleeping countrymen. He was the first vampire obviously.
The Time of Waning - (Dark Period)
Stars begin to go dark and moon-power fades. People begin to become weak and sickly, the emergence of the first diseases occurs. People's connection to the supernatural weakens drastically, and many can no longer hear the voices of their gods.
The Great Death - (Dark Event)
"Normal" animals (as in the ones we might see alive today) lose the ability to reproduce. Almost all die to horrible diseases and spontaneous cannibalism. By the time of The Shattering very few non-human lifeforms remain.
