Bill of Rights
9th Amendment
People’s Rights- Citizens have rights beyond those written in the Constitution and they cannot be taken away.
The rights we have cannot be taken away.
4th Amendment
Search and Arrest Warrants - The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches -Having the right to keep out a search of your house unless the Police or the person searching the house has a warrant.
8th Amendment
Reasonable Bail and Punishment- Bail will not be set unusually high as to make it impossible for someone to pay.
The price for being charged for something won't be ridiculous but it will be reasonable for what the crime was.
6th Amendment
Rights to a fair trial- In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been.
Having the right to have a shorter court instead of long, sad and boring.
10th Amendment
States’ Rights- Those powers not given to the federal government are given to the states.
The State's individual governments have there own rights.
2nd Amendment
Summary: Right to bear arms; The right to own a gun. -Owning a gun legally without the government taking your right to own it.
7th Amendment
Civil Suits- A jury may be provided if one person sues another person and the case involves more than $20.
The right to sue someone else for doing something bad to you.
1st Amendment: Five Freedoms; Religion, Speech, Press, Assembly, Petition.
Ex: Being able to believe in what you want to not being forced to believe a certain thing.
3rd Amendment
Housing of soldiers- No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner.
-The right to say no to a soldier if he/she ask for housing or shelter for a certain amount of time.
5th Amendment
Rights in criminal cases- No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment
of a Grand Jury.
