Historians have disagreed abut whether the failure of the Weimar Republic was inevitable. What is your view about whether the failure of the Weimar Republic was inevitable?

Can the failure of the Weimar Republic be explained by the reality that it was a "Democracy without Democrats"? - Josh Garland
"The failure of liberal and conservative parties such as the Deutsche Demokratische Partei (DDP), Deutsche Volkspartei (DVP) and Deutschnationale Volkspartei (DNVP) to recognise the needs of the middle class and act accordingly compounded this sense of disillusionment and resulted in gradual evaporation of support"

"decline was accelerated, and by 1932 the composition of the Reichstag made it clear that Germany had rejected democracy"
"support for the NSDAP was largely diverted from the bourgeois parties (from the Green Front and DNVP in the countryside)
it is not difficult to see how the disenfranchisement of the middle classes was central Weimar's failure
Should be noted that Germany's economic structure, dependence on foreign credit and position in the world economy meant it was uniquely exposed to the depression
By rendering the threat of industrial action hollow, the depression weakened the Republic's supporters and radicalized many of them, turning them into de facto enemies of the regime, in accordance with the strict stalinism that then governed the KPD.
the depression and that it was arguably its radicalizing effect, rather than a fundamental legitimacy deficit, that was the cause of Weimar's failure
in what arguably a manifestation of Germany's flawed socio-political development. With the onset of the depression, disharmony
allowed the authoritarian Chancellor Bruning to remain in office for two years, and resulted in a 10% drop in support between 1928 and 1932, largely to the advantage of the KPD
The SPD, by disqualifying itself as an opposition party, allowed the NSDAP to present itself as the only opposition force to the right of the communists. The republic was not a democracy devoid of demo
Against
Republic lasted for 13 years, world was different in 1933 compared to 1919 so there was no simple cause and effect
Republic was very successful during the period 1923-1929. When pro democracy parties organised themselves properly , the Republic could be very strong
The Republic would have survived if Hindenburg and Papen hadn't made Hitler as Chancellor; the Nazis had not done as well in the November 1932 elections as they had in July 1932. Some historians believe that their appeal was beginning to wane
AJP Taylor
Nothing wrong with the Weimar Republic per se - blamed the stupid men who lacked the will to maintain democracy the politicians of the centre and social democratic parties and particularly Hidenburg and Papen for Hitler's rise to power.
