1st Indian Reservation
In Shamong Township,
New Jersey, 3,000-acres of land were established as the First Indian Reservation by European colonists.
December 16, 1773
Boston Tea Party
Members of The Sons of Liberty organization protested the British Tea Act of 1773 and threw 342 chests of tea into the ocean. 5,000 people declined the entry of tea at a town meeting because they didn’t want to get taxed by the British.
1789
Indian Commerce Act of 1789
Henry Knox argued for a policy that would treat the Native Americans fairly by paying them at a cheap price for land.

Indian Trade and Intercourse Act
This was the first law for the purpose of regulating trade between Native Americans and colonists.

Tecumseh’s War
War on Northwest Territory between the United States and an American Indian confederacy led by Shawnee leader, Tecumseh.

The Cherokee nation was forced to move from the land they owned east of the mississippi to present day oklahoma. This was part was Andrew Jackson’s Indian Removal Policy.

Conflict over the control of the Great Plains between the Native Americans and the United States. The wars were started as a result of disputes over land and the Succession of Texas.

Reservation System
Created to keep Native Americans off the land of white settlers. Allowed Indian Tribes to govern themselves and keep their culture.
1860-1886
Apache Wars
The Apache wars took place in the American west where the Apaches fought off the American military from taking over their land. There was no formal beginning of the wars other than two separate incidents that influenced it and it continued for about 25 years.
