Vendor Collaboration Workflows (Coldchain Primary movement (Creambell)…
Vendor Collaboration Workflows
UTCL - KCW
SAP sends orders with ideal truck loads
no splitting required, simple merge workflow
Orient Cement
Created in SAP after ideal loads are built
Actual DO is created
Orders from sales / marketing managed in excel, loads built in excel (to confirm)
Dummy DO with no truck number
Truck enters the yard. Based on FIFO, the trucks are assigned orders (region wise)
JSW
Marketing team creates order with bulk qty
Advance planning - 1 week
Fleet capacity of transporters may not be known prior to assignment, as majority are market fleet
Assign bulk quantity to the transporter, allow transporter to create loads
This might require additional logic to deal with the pending quantity
Assignment:
Region wise - transporter priorities
i.e. Transporter A - priority 1, Transporter B - priority 2
Pre - defined contractual values - 80% to tx A, 20% to transporter B
Option for transporter to edit quantity
Adani
Auto Load Building (Split & merge)
Create ideal truck loads (FTL) based on weight, volume of SKU, type of truck (capacity)
Contraints:
Maintain SKU dimensions, material properties (brittleness, etc), material combinations, erc
Logic to create loads is complex
Week load is obtained from SAP, per day load i.e. Virtual order created based on ideal capacity,
When the trucks report, if the truck matches the truck type of the virtual order, it is mapped
Create dynamic loads:
For instance, if the truck type that arrived is different from the planned type,
Create a dynamic load appropriate for the new (reported) truck type
Handle remaining quantity - reconcile with parent and create a new load for it
Orissa Cement Limited (Dalmia)
Orders from ERP - Bulk order quantity
Auto split the order based on each transporter contracts and assign based on the priorities
Reverse auctioning
reverse logistics mapping - back-hauling
Shree Cement
Every order is auctioned due to truck scarcity, no dedicated trucks
Aluminium (Vedanta)
Sales orders - regular workflow
Month end workflow:
Towards month end, virtual orders
What is required?
Advance planning of virtual orders
Visibility to transporters
Predominantly B2B
Coldchain Primary movement (Creambell)
Primary & secondary movement - secondary movement more problematic
Majority of trucks are dedicated
Limited pool of trucks - 10 - 15k In India
Based on trucks reporting, the orders are mapped to the trucks
Sales orders are not usually amended, load building is not complex, not the primary issue
Secondary movement
Load building - complex
Products requested are adhoc or could be based on replenishment patterns
While creating loads, shortest route and delivery dates need to be considered
Trucks scarcity as most trucks prefer to do the primary movement which is predominantly single drop
No visibility of orders to the transporters
Mobile app for VC
Chemicals
SO are not created until gross weight
re assigned
Month end workflow of virtual DO & advance planning
Need to work with the dummy orders
Coke
Similar to creambell
No secondary movement
JK Cement
Chambal
Emami
