when we exercise, we need more air bc the cells use up oxygen, and to get rid of waste, so when we breathe, the diaphragm opens chest cavity so we get more oxygen to feed muscles
overtime, chest cavity gets bigger and better at respiration, so we can exercise

Air comes into the body through the nose or mouth, and enters the airways. Airways are the tubes that carry air into our lungs. As they branch out, they become smaller and smaller, and eventually connect to small air sacs where fresh oxygen from the air is exchanged for carbon dioxide in the blood.
nose, mouth, throat, windpipe, voice box, lungs
cilia is tiny hairs that protect nasal passageways and other parts of resp tract (filter dust/ particles)
respiration= taking in oxygen, letting out carbon dioxide

the diaphragm is muscles that get bigger whet you breathe out, smaller when in/ supports lungs
when you inhale, external intercostal muscles push rib cage up and out, causing chest cavity to expand
