        回燃现象（Backdraft）”，这其实是消防员火场行动的主要危险之一。按麻庭光的说法：现代建筑讲究密封性，室内发生火灾之后，往往没有充分的氧气供应，于是火灾蔓延很慢，却产生了大量的可燃物（气体），这些气体汇聚在天花板下方，因为缺氧而无法燃烧。这些气体混合物有充分的燃料，也不缺能量（点火源），就差氧气的供给。这时消防队员破开房间大门，空气立即进入，于是空气与高浓度燃料的剧烈混合，点燃过程从外向内（外侧先达到预期的化学当量比浓度，所以先点燃），产生一个巨大的火球（反应区），冲出门外（门外有更多的氧气），因为是往回蔓延，所以称之为回燃现象。
