Eukaryotic Cell Organelles
Cell Membrane
The cell membrane is similar to the structure of a house because it protects the inside of the house, allows the valuable things to stay secure, and it regulates what people/things can come in or out. The cell membrane in a cell protects it and regulates what materials enter in or out.
Nucleus
A dad/owner of a house is very similar to the nucleus because the man of the house is the one controlling what goes on inside. They control the functions of the house and they work in order to support the house. The nucleus is the control center of the cell and it contains the code for life functions just like the dad contains all of the information and resources in order to live.
Ribosomes
A mom is very similar to a ribosome because a mom cooks the food in order to support the family by reading a recipe and a ribosome creates proteins to allow the cell to live. A ribosome also creates proteins by reading the code or the "recipe". Moms are always running around the house trying to get everything done which is exactly like a ribosome; they float around.
Cytoplasm
Oxygen is similar to cytoplasm because it fills the entire house and allows the parts/people of the house to survive and carry out their functions just like cytoplasm does for a cell.
Rough ER
A ktichen is similar to a rough ER because that is the location in which food/proteins are made and the Rough ER is where the proteins are created for the cell.
Smooth ER
The Amazon echo, otherwise known as Alexa, performs specialized task after you ask her to do it. She performs several different task in order to benefit your life and make it easier. She also transports your information to your phone. The Smooth ER performs much of the same tasks like transporting proteins and lipids. It also is composed of a network of tubules that serve several different functions which is exactly what Alexa does.
Golgi Apparatus
A maid is a person who helps sort, clean, modify the messy parts of the house. It makes the necessary things of the house easy to use. A maid cleans, sorts clothes and cleans the surface of the house. The Golgi Body also packages, sorts, and modifies what is inside the cell. They edit the proteins for the cell and the maid edits the dirty parts of the house.
Lysosomes
A vacuum is an object used to collect dirt, dust, or unwanted things in the house in order to clean it. A lysosome also collects the junk in the cell and gets rid of it. It breaks down the junk in addition.
Vacuole
The cabinet of a house stores all of the important things of the house. The vacuoles in the cell store water, salts, proteins, and other materials in the cell just like a cabinet stores materials.
Mitochondria
An electricity box is similar to mitochondrion because it is the power source of the house and it provides electricity for the house to run. Mitochondria is the power house of the cell and it creates ATP energy just like the box creates electricity.
Microfilaments
A carpet carries out the function of the microfilaments because it is a thread like structure that helps form the shape of the house and the structure. It allows the people inside to move around in the house. It can also be assembled and dissembled in a house. The microfilaments of a cell perform the same exact function of a carpet. The microfilaments also interact with other organelles which is was a carpet does too.
Microtubules
The walls of a house help support and shape the house. they also help divide the house into different sections and rooms. Microtubules help centrioles for cell division and help support and shape the cell which is exactly what walls do.
Chloroplasts (only in plants)
A solar panel is very similar to a chloroplast because a solar panel absorbs sunlight and converts it into electricity. Chloroplasts captures energy from sunlight which is the similar job to a solar panel.
Cell Wall (only in plants)
A window is similar to a cell wall because it protects the house from unwanted things outside and it shapes and supports some parts of the house. A cell wall also protects and shapes the cell. Not all houses necessarily have windows and animal cells NEVER have cell walls.
