Curt Lemon is blown into a tree. Typically you would expect an event like this to be seen as gruesome but in the war story, it is described as almost beautiful and elegant.

Curt Lemon and Rat Kiley bonded during their time in the war which is a beautiful thing, amongst treacherous and horrible circumstances two stragers can form a friendship.
