Reliability and Credibility
Who is the author?
Is there information about the author?
Does the author belong to an organization that you can trust? Where does the author work?
Are the author's work address, email, and phone number listed?
You can look for an author at the top or bottom of a page.
Is there a tilde in the web address? This means it is the author's own page.

The piece linked above is an article written by Salman Sakir, an economist, about globalization.
Is the information accurate?
Does the author let you know where they found the information?
Does anyone else say the same thing?
Who wrote the site? Would someone who works for that organization give out information that you should trust?

What is the purpose of the web page?
Are they trying to sell you something, like a product or an idea? Do they want to make money?

Is the site too old for the information to be trusted?
If you want to get statistics about different topics, the date matters. You want current information.
Sometimes, though, it doesn't matter when a site was crated. Websites about Harriet Tubman or Anne Frank from 1996 might be just as good or better than sites from 2005. Because they both lived a long time ago, the information on either the newer or older sites might not be any different.
Date: Website Example
The essay on human trafficking linked above was posted on March 23rd, 2015
You can find the date at the bottom of the home page of a site. Look for a date and the word "updated" to see if the site was been changed or revised since it was created.
All Criteria: Website Example
