Interpolation
Drawing conclusions from within the graph. Generally reliable conclusions can be drawn because the information is being taken from inside the known data. It is known that the graph follows the line shown, through the variables shown.
Extrapolation
Only useful when we know the line continues in a straight line. Eg at a steady pace, continuing at the same average speed.
The more spread the data the less reliable interpolation and extrapolation will be.
