TYPES OF BRIDGES
SUSPENSION
2,000 - 7,000 ft with its towers supporting most of its weight A suspension bridge is a type of bridge in which the deck is hung below suspension cables on vertical suspenders. The first modern examples of this type of bridge were built in the early 19th century.
CABLE STAYED
A cable stayed bridge, is like a suspension bridge it supports the roadway with gigantic steel cables but in a different way. Cable stayed bridges have cables that run directly from the roadway to the tower making a "A" shape. They are commonly used for medium length spans (between 500 and 3,00 feet)
CANTILEVER
A cantilever bridge is a type of bridge built with structures that are horizontal into space and only supported on one side.

Usually less than 250ft Beam bridges are the simplest structural forms for bridge spans supported by an abutment or pier at each end. No moments are transferred throughout the support, hence their structural type is known as simply supported.
