The process of defining, reaffirming and/or changing the overall mission and official goals (strategic direction) is, in principle, a matter of determining the best fit between external opportunities and threats (external environment), on the one hand, and internal strengths, including competences, and weaknesses (internal situation) on the other. Organizational design is presented as reflecting the way goals and strategies are implemented. Strategy making are constrained to the organization design. Finally managers can evaluate the effectiveness outcomes of all the changes. These outcome determine the internal situation.
