Diseases such as haemophilia, Parkinson's, cancers and certain immune deficiency diseases have been treated using this method.
In the case of haemophilia, patients were provided the missing gene which allowed the blood to start clotting, ultimately leading to fewer bleeding episodes.

There is a large and growing debate about biotechnologies role in sustainability particularly in sustainable development and sustainable agriculture
There is also a debate as to who should control these technologies and ideas. Particularly an issue in the agricultural industry where a few large corporations own the genetically modified corn seeds
Waste Industry
Biotechnology finds ways to treat waste water and disposal of solid wastes through biological methods
Uses microorganisms to break down the solid material until it can be easily treated. #
