Prevalence & Factors Associated With Failure In Exclusive Breastfeeding Among Mother With Infants Up To 6 Months Old In Kuala Lumpur

Trend data suggest the prevalence of exclusive breast-feeding among infants younger than six months in developing countries increased from 33% in 1995 to 39% in 2010 .The prevalence increased in almost all regions in the developing world, with the biggest improvement seen in West and Central Africa where the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding more than doubled
from 12% in 1995 to 28% in 2010. Eastern and Southern Africa also realized improvements with an increase from 35% in 1995 to 47% in 2010. More modest improvements were observed in South Asia (40% in 1995; 45%in 2010(.rdlaw, & Brown, n.d.)
Malaysia Third National Health and Morbidity Survey 2006 (NHMS III): the prevalence of infants who initiated breastfeeding within one hour of birth was 63.7% (95% CI: 61.4, 65.9) while the prevalence among children less than 12 years ever breastfed was 94.7% (95% CI: 93.0, 95.9). The prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding up to four months and six months were 19.3% (95% CI: 15.5, 23.9) and 14.5% (95% CI: 11.7, 17.9) respectively

Eventhough breasfeeding is normal expectation for every Malaysian's women, several factors may influence mothers' decisions and perceived abilities to breastfeed.
Finding and recommendations from this study would be importance in the public health interventions toward promoting and sustaining exclusive breastfeeding practices.
Problem Statement
Kuala Lumpur which is an urban city, most mother are working and these mother claims having difficulty to fulfill their dream in fully breastfeed their children at least up to 6 months.
Most pregnant ladies knows about the need of exclusive breastfeeding until baby 6 months old, however as they delivered their babies, they are facing lack of support from spouse, family members and friends
i) What are the prevalence in breastfeeding practices among infants in their first 6 months of life in this area of study?

iii) What is the relationship between mother's sociodemographic characteristics and breastfeeding practices?
iv) What are the maternal and related factors associated with exclusive breastfeeding practice among mother of infants 0-6 months old?
To determine the prevalence, the practices and factors that contributing the failure in exclusive breastfeeding among mothers
