If I was an independent taxi driver, I would charge by total distance covered, not displacement because distance is the total amount of length covered. Displacement is talking about the direct distance from your start to endpoint. For example, if you zigzagged to your destination, displacement would only cover your direct distance in a straight line, not your zigzagging. Distance however, will count all the length you covered, including the amount of length you covered while zigzagging. This will maximize my earnings and help me flourish my business. Therefore, if I am an independent taxi driver, I would charge for distance covered.
