The 5 Cultural Regions
Northwest Coast Region
Groups that lived got to much food from the sea so they do not have to farm
They also collected fruits
This region had lots of forest, they use the wood to make totems that are animal spirits that protcted the Indians' families
Eastern Woodland Region
This region was the biggest region of all
They use wood to make canoes and tools
They build long wooden houses called longhouses
Plains Region
The Region is flat and grassy.
They built round houses were called earth lodges.
They planted corn,squash,and beans.
California Intermountain Region
This region is between 2 big mountains
Much of the land of the region is part of basins and plateaus
When they have not food they make an acorn bread
Southest Region
Many American Indians here belonged to the group known as the Pueblo.
The Southwest Region has the driest climate of the country.
Pueblo maked their houses if adobe that is made of clay, straw and water
When the American Indians lived in the USA the country was divided into 5 regions
Each American Indian group had to adapt themselves to the region where they live
Groups that lived in the same region often had similar cultures
