White Supremacy Threats on Campus
There is a pervasive culture of white supremacy on campus
Students of color feel unsafe
Non-POC can't understand that
Building names (CC Little, Weiser, etc)
One person can do this stuff (flyers rumor)
Acting out is how we get people to pay attention to this stuff, but we need to strategize
Protesting is important
Protesting is how we get people to pay attention
To people complaining: Hey, it's worked
The university does not want to be in the news w/ ppl protesting them
Get well known people involved with social media
Bring in speakers
We need to continue to protest, don't be pacified with empty promises.
Puts continued pressure on the university
We need to organize
The university is doing what we are doing, we aren't
Administration doesn't look at root causes of the problem
They need to look at ssci research of the causes of this
Look at what other universities have done
We need to come together with ONE goal
Make one demand from the University
The university should make an example of those who perpetuate violence on campus so that people do not become desensitized
Currently the university does not educate people on action items, only on what has happened
The University could be giving information about the protests
Consequences for perpetrators should be specifically outlined ahead of time
The university should be asking students about the impact and what should be done about it
Students should be asked what they known about an incident and to report
Have psas on what students can do
Have RE thing like relationship remix?
The university needs to ensure that ppl are educated w/ better RE requirement
Groups fighting this on campus need to research how to actually minimize the impact of hateful messages so they do not inadvertently spread them
These events snowball and inspire each other
We need to consider not just how to make a lot of noise, but also how to actually cut off power from the university
We could boycott university stores
Boycott class
Not pay library fines
Portest a sports event (watch it on TV)
Is it worth doing all this stuff? Is it merited?
Cause disruptions in roads and study spaces
Hold up signs during meetins
Tarnishing reputation w/ things in news
We have a legacy of strategizers before us
History of segregated university housing
There's been a long history of activism to get us to where we are @ the university
While one person can cause great harm, patching up takes organized group action
We need to stop acting as individuals
Different diversity orgs should unify, this shouldn't just be a black students thing
Student Orgs should talk to the administration
Change the campus culture
Put up signs that encourage diversity and love
Hold a love fest
This can also bring people into the movement
