Social Identification
The process by which someone identifies with an in-group more overtly
A person's collective identity becomes their in-group, boosting self esteem and a sense of belonging
Social Categorisation
The process of categorising people in order to understand and identify them
Label each other
Not always negative
Decide which groups we belong to
Social Comparison
The process by which someone compares themselves and their groups with other groups
Commonly seen with clothing, sport teams and political beliefs

Inclusivity
The degree to which an organisation is open to anyone who can do a job regardless of diversity attributes
the organisational cultures are considered to be inclusive, as they value the talents, ideas and creative potential of all members
Inclusivity measures the degree to which the organisation is open to accepting diverse individuals
Whereas diversity refers to the presence of differences amongst people

BUSINESS CASE
Suggests that promtoing equality makes good business sense
eg: LEGO, Star Wars
- Reflects the potential market
provides a competitive market
- Helps attract the best talent to the organisation
- Reduces discrimination costs (lower chance of being in trouble with the law)
Limitations:
- Often reactionary (there is a problem to start with)
- Situated within a rationalistic framework
- rationale can be reversed - younger workers views as cheaper and are attached to lower insurance
- Potential clashes with ideologies which are underlying in other policies (agile and youth vs age)

Situated upon moral principles of fairness and equity in a "civilised society"
Based on respect and knowledge
Limitations:
- legal moral justification
- what is the right thing to do
- moral standards don't
change, but laws can
- Juxtaposition with business agenda
SOCIAL IDENTITY THEORY
- Argues we have multiple versions of ourselves corresponding to different groups
- A person's sense of who they are based on their group membership
