Functions of HR
Recruitment
The success of
recruiters and employment
specialists generally is measured by the
number
of positions they fill and the
time it takes to fill those position
Safety
Workplace safety is an important factor.
Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers have an obligation
to provide a safe working environment for employees.
Employee Relations
In a unionized work environment, the employee and labor relations functions of HR may be combined and handled by one specialist or be entirely separate functions managed by two HR specialists with specific expertise in each area.

Compliance
HR staff must be aware of federal and state employment laws such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the National Labor Relations Act and many other rules and regulations.
Training and Development
Employers must provide employees with the tools necessary for their success which, in many cases, means giving new employees extensive orientation training to help them transition into a new organizational culture.
HR modern trends
going mobile
The using of the mobile app within Human Resource Management is still in its initial stage. The growing use of mobile apps will ease the administrative burden on HR and will considerably develop the usage of self-service. People involved with digital means apply for jobs through the help of mobile devices.
Consumerisation
In her excellent article “Consumerization of HR: 10 trends companies will follow in 2016” Jeanne Meister captured all the trends she describes under the label “Consumerisation”. People are more and more expecting an experience at work that is comparable to the experience they have at home. Netflix knows their movie taste and makes good recommendations.

The end of Open Space
In 2015 we mentioned as trend for 2016 “Back to the Office”. If people return to the office, they do not want to work in open space. They prefer an individual approach, where they are able to choose their working location in line with their individual preferences and personal needs.
Process of recruiting
Human resource planning is when a company settles on the number of employees they are looking to hire and the skill sets they require of these employees.
The recruitment phase of the hiring process takes place when the company tries to reach a pool of candidates through job postings
Employee selection is the process by which an employer evaluates information about the pool of applicants generated during the recruitment phase. After assessing the candidates, the company decides which applicant will be offered the position.
