Reading Devices
• Optical reader
– A device that uses a light source to read
characters, marks, and codes and then converts
them into digital data that computer can process.
– Two types : OCR reader and OMR reader

technology, such as bluetooth, or infrared.
Pointing Devices
• Mouse
– Pointing device that fits in a palm, and used to
control the pointer by moving it along a flat
surface.
-
• Touchpad
– a small, flat, rectangular pointing device that is
sensitive to pressure and motion.
Pen input
• Stylus
– A small metal or plastic device that looks like a
tiny ink pen but uses pressure instead of ink.
• Digital pen
– Slightly larger than a stylus, pressure sensitive,
and provide more functionality such as electronic
erasers and programmable buttons.
Video Input
• Digital video camera
– A device that records video as digital signals,
which can be transferred into a computer by
connecting the video device to the computer
• Web cam
