Differentiated Learning
Identification
Assessment
Based on clear objectives and assessment of each of those objectives, identify what level students are at with content through constant assessment (Methods of Differentiation in the Classroom, n.d.).
Learning Habits
Monitoring of particular learning habits. Does the student complete assignments, work well with others etc.?
-
Teacher Collaboration
Regular conferences with teachers determining students of concern dependent on emotional or academic need.
-
Strategies
Flexible Groupings
-
Would switch between specific groups constantly. Allow for high level learners to assist with low level learners,
Content
Changing content based on what a particular group of students might need (Weselby, 2017).
Processing
Change up how things are taught in class to accommodate all learners and how students process in a lesson (Weselby, 2017).
Assessment
Continuous assessment to allow for constant reevaluation of groupings (Weselby, 2017).
Environments
Changing up learning environments for students and allow for students to learn how they want (Weselby, 2017).
-
Based off of identification. Groupings could change. Would be dependent on class, group of students and observations from other grade level teachers on what would be the best way to group based on the identification methods.
High Level- students who consistently score highly on daily assessments, show consistent learning habits like completing work fully and showing that they can work well with others, and confirmed by other teachers to have high level of understanding
High-Mid Level- score consistently highly on assessments however don't always show consistent learning habits or may not always work well with other students
Mid Level- Score okay to good on assessments, work well with other students and show consistently good on assessments
Low Level- either don't do well on assignments, don't show consistent work habits or have problems working with others
Grouping could be based off of Bloom's taxonomy based on intellectual behaviors- remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating and creating (Weselby, 2017).
