Elements and Principals of Design
Balance
Creating balance in the area of the bank ensuring that there is more nature then structures as this can take away the element of experiencing what nature has to offer.
Ensuring all designed structures are not too large.
Contrast
Each element of each design needs to contrast with each other.
Creating breaks/gaps between each design instead of it looking like one big mess
Texture
Possibly only wooden textures will be placed down by the river but this is highly unlikely due to the issue of termites and water damage that will rot the wood.
Colour
Neutral colours will be used for each design that relates to the nature around it. E.g. brains, greens etc.
Alignment
Ensuring each component in a design is aligned.
Proximity
Since a map of the area will be involved and the extensive amount of space of land that can be used. No structures should be in close proximity of each other unless they need to be.
Tone
Since the river precinct is away from eyesight of the school it isn't essential to use the school colours to make it look a part of the school nor will it flow with the natural tones of the environment.
Repetition/consistency
Each design should have some design element consistency and should look like a family of designs and look like it would suit well in the environment
Space
Ensuring that the area of land is used to its full potential and effectively
Shape
Since there a multiple designs determining their shape before beginning design sketches can not happening. But all shapes should represent the design and trend.
