GEOMETRY IN ARCHITECTURE

MATHEMATICS

Euclid's Algorithm
Postulate 1: A straight line segment can be drawn joining any two points. E.g. Building a wall as they are almost always straight line segments.
Postulate 3: A circle can be formed with any centre and any radius. E.g. Used in buildings that have circular bases.
Postulate 4: All right angles are congruent. E.g. Used for building walls perpendicular to the ground.
-
Coordinate Geometry
Allows architects to perform the calculations required to perform a complex structure. E.g. bridge / building
Calculations include the amount of stress, moment of inertia and strength

TECHNOLOGY
-
Advances in material.
Lighter, stronger, eco-friendly and more supportive material.
