After several games, Andy spirals out of control and becomes a more aggressive player. He eventually stops playing basketball completely, which was one of the only things that made him happy.
After Robbie's death, Andy took Robbie's position as starting center. His first several games, he does extremely well, outscoring all the players on his team often.
The Effects Of Loss
Suicide
Losing someone very important can cause one's life to spiral out of control, this often leads to that person killing themselves because they want to be with that person in heaven, they blame themselves for their death and feel they deserve to die for it, or they don't think they will be able to live life without them. Andy killed himself because he believed he couldn't live without Robbie.
If someone takes their own life, this can send more people into grief. Suicide is the tenth highest cause of death in America, taking tens of thousands of people's live annually.
Grief
Deep sorrow, usually caused by someones death.

Bargaining
Andy sees Robbie in his dream's, and he tries to convince him that if Andy dies he'll be up there with him.
Depression
Andy becomes very sad about the death of Robbie and feels that he is replacing him, with basketball and other stuff too.
In the end, Andy takes his own life because he felt that he couldn't cope with the pain.
Anger

Andy did not reach this stage, but if he did, he would have accepted that Robbie's death was the result of an accident that he couldn't have stopped.

In the beginning, Andy refuses to believe that Rob is dead
