Radio waves
-
-
higher frequency radio waves are used for tv broadcasts. Lower frequency radio waves are used for radio broadcasts
-
microwaves
microwaves are used for communication over very long distances such as phones because they can travel through the ionosphere and bounce off satelites.
uses include cooking because they can transfer heat. They can be used for communication between devices and broadcasts.
-
X-RAY
X-ray has a short wavelength therefore can damge cells so therefore people do not have tons of X-rays. The rays can be used to strilise food and equipment. It is very useful in medicine
-
gamma
gamma has the shortest wavelength and has the highest chance of damaging cells. This is called ionasation because the waves can knock electrons of atoms and therefore causing an atom to have an overall charge
Gamma is used in medicine to: detect cancer, treat cancer and sterilise food
ultraviolet
one problem is that Uv can damage cells therefore humans should not be exposed to ultraviolet for too long
ULtraviolet can be used in lighting. Many hospitals use UV lighting to sterilise equipment and it can be used to help those with skin disorders

White light is made up of several colours and these are red, green, blue, yellow , magenta and cyan
refraction is when light changes direction when it hits a medium. Absorbtion is when light absorbs the light and does not emit any light back.
