Topic 21 - Interlock devices as a therapeutic based rehabilitation model
Road Safety (Alcohol and Drugs) Act
1970 (Tas)
Department of State Growth.
The act effectively enabled the Department to deal with interlock devices generally, and more so the installation and servicing requirement of them.
Responsible for the issuing and cancellation of licences.
Operates the "Approved Inspection Station (AIS) Compliance Unit
Also maintains roads
Redeveloped the Road Safety Board to address the concerns of road safety
Funding allocated towards the
Department of Environment, Land and Water
Funding used to improve the conditions of Tasmanian Roads, particularly those roads with higher death and serious injury rates
The Act applies to the wider community generally, however, and regarding the focus on interlocks, the sections relating to same would only apply to offenders convicted of a drink driving offence

also deals with the installation and servicing of the interlock

Ability to impose sanctions upon drink driving offenders
Able to impose fines, impose a term or imprisonment and rehabilitation
National Transport Commission
whilst not directly related to any piece of legislation, it does however impact upon the issue of drink driving generally and towards safer road and rehabilitation reform initiatives
The relevant legislation, as listed, applies to all members of the community generally, however, it is more appropriately stated as only applying to offenders if convicted of a drink driving charge

Defines the circumstances under which a driver car can be searched and they themselves questioned
Applies to the wider community and also to offenders specifically
