The European Rabbit
Food Processing
Nutrition
The food, after being chewed by the rabbit's large teeth, passes through the stomach and intestines where it is processed into usable materials and waste
After digestion, the nutrients which are extracted from the food are reprocessed
Rabbits are herbivores, and will eat almost all varieties of vegetables, along with hay, grass, and sometimes even their own droppings. This means they obtain their food heterotrophically.
Synthesis
They are reprocessed into proteins and other substances that are necessary for the rabbit: enzymes, antibodies, lipids, and hormones.
-
The digestive system removes unnecessary proteins, but it keeps those which may be useful. These proteins are then transferred to other organ systems for synthesis.
Excretion
Rabbits, like most mammals, use their lungs as a way to remove unusable gasses from the body

Reproduction
-
-
-
When there are few or no predators in the area, rabbits will quickly overrun the land
Growth
Rabbits are mammals, and therefore are multicellular
-
-
Regulation
The nervous system contains a spinal cord and a central brain, which communicate with outer nerves, sensory nerves, motor nerves, and mixed nerves
-
-
The endocrine system consists of 10 major types of glands, sorted into endocrine and exocrine glands.
-
Respiration
Rabbits, like most other mammals, practice aerobic and anaerobic respiration
They perform aerobic respiration using oxygen from their respiratory system, which is similar to ours—it takes in oxygen and takes out carbon dioxide and other waste gasses
They perform anaerobic respiration when their physical demand for energy is more than what the oxygen rabbits take in allows
