        For example, lots of parents in large cities such as New York City and Denver, Colorado have trusted Uber as if it were a trusted friend or a trusted neighbor to drop their kids off to after school activities or to wherever their kids want to go. The Uber app itself allows parents to track the vehicle’s path, see the driver’s name, cell phone number, and vehicle license plate number. In a Wall Street Journal article from 2014 and from a New York Times article from 2013, many parents said they perceived “Uber to be safer than taxicabs.” Their belief is most likely based on the idea that Uber has retrieved and recreated this idea of a friendly small town, which has allowed parents to feel safe enough to let their kids get into a car with a stranger.
      - No Cash or Credit Card Exchange
        
        Unlike a taxi cab ride where there is bound to be an exchange of cash or a credit card swipe during the ride, Uber charges credit cards automatically. The elimination of an exchange of cash or credit cards during the ride helps promote this idea of a small town atmosphere. During an Uber ride, there is no event like an exchange of cash or credit cards, making the ride feel more like a friend is driving you around rather than a stranger. Within Uber's help and question section, Uber states, "our smartphone apps connect driver-partners and riders."
- - - - From a user perspective, Uber is much more intuitive than taxis; the application guarantees the user an instant ride based on their exact location. Before, there was an uncertainty that one could even hail a taxi; many times people would have to stand in the street, desperate to catch a ride. Now, with the simple click of a screen any individual with the app and a bank account can order their own chauffeur without having to worry if their ride will come or if they have any money in their pocket—cash is now obsolete too as all transactions happen through the app. Uber has made the uncertainty of getting a ride a thing of the past as well as the need to travel with cash.
        
        Uber obsolesces the need to know directions. As more people use Uber and ditch their own cars, they don’t need to think twice about where they're going; somebody is driving them there. Some may point out that this was also true during the taxi era. Yet smartphones weren't as common ten years ago before Uber and individuals still had to have somewhat of an idea of where they were going without a phone to google the address. There is no longer a need to know how to get from point A to B because the app software does everything for you.
