How do you Summarize
Why should you summarize?
You need to summarize because:
It helps the reader understand the whole topic
You can make a shorter way for the reader to learn, without all of the reading.
To summarize, you:
Write a shorter version of that text
(About 4-5 sentences)
Make sure that it still has the same main idea
Be sure to include all of the KEY details and nothing more
How do you create an outline
To create an outline you need to asses your topic
After you chose your topic, chose your supporting ideas, and the order they will go in
For example, endangered species: Topic 1: What are the most common, Topic 2:How can I help, Topic 3:Why is it happening
After you have chosen your 3 topics to support your main topic, find as many reliable sources as you can.
How do you find a reliable source?
You can find a reliable source by checking-
Does it have a recent date, does it have an author, does it have edu, .or, or .gov? Is the information correct?
A good way to check if information is correct is to cross check it.
You can cross check by going to a previous reliable source, or another and check that they have the same information
Once you have finished that, save the websites, paraphrase the information, make sure you have the right MLA for matting, and start your ruff draft.
If your draft has the proper citations, follows your outline, has correct information, and a good topic you should be good.
To asses your topic you must first chose it
When you chose your topic make sure it is direct, and do some pre-researching.
You can pre research by searching a few of your ideal topics, then seeing which one has the best results.
Make sure you can change your topic if needed!
How do you Paraphrase
give credit to the person work you are paraphrasing
But it in your own words
Make sure you change up all the word do you are not plagiarizing
Re write them so that it is a completely different sentence then the actual sentence
How do you cite your sources, and use MLA
You need to cite your source so you are copy righting
Go to a website and create a correct citation
create a in text citation
put the author or the title with a period after.
How do you use key words, and why should you?
To find key words you must chose the topic.
Once you have chose your topic what is the main idea you want to asses, or what are somethings you want to research.
For example say your topic is fish, and you wanted to research what the most popular ones are, your key words might be salt water fish.
It is important to have them, so that you can have more specific searches, and articles, and sources that are on the topic you want them to be on.
What is plagiarism
Plagiarism is when you use someone else's work and do not give credit where it is due.
When you plagiarize, you are basically saying that you made it on your own.
