What MLA citation is
These are used in the text for cross-checking purposes. open parenthesis, authors last name, page number, and closed parenthesis. Do not add the period before the citation.
A MLA citation is a link/resource that shows where you found your information. This includes the author, title, pages, dates, publisher etc.
The difference between quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing
-
Summarizing is giving a shortened version of the text. Do not include your opinion or any small details. Paraphrasing is putting the text into your own words. Maybe longer than the original text. Quoting is using the author's exact words and using quotation marks. To cite all three of these you will need to use open parenthesis, authors last name, page number, and closed parenthesis. Do not add the period before the citation.
