Phoenix
The myth of the phoenix offered good faith to the life of Montag, to the books, and to the citizens. The world was presently biting the dust, and no one appeared to mind, in light of the fact that the government had brain washed the population. It was a problem, not only for the brave, but for the ones who can have their own thoughts.
CLARISSE
BEATTY
He is the main character in this story, he shows a change since at the beginning of the novel he loved to burn books specially because of the smell of the kerosine and troughout the story he begins to change for numerous reasons. By the end of the book, Montag did not enjoy the presence of fire but what he did enjoy was reading the collection of books he had.
Books symbolize freedom of thought and free will. These are what can destroy this society in which normal people have no independent thoughts and are controlled by the goverment.
He glanced back at the wall. How like a mirror, too, her face" (451,p.8)
The word phoenix had symbolized immortality, however for the citizens, their wishes was that the phoenix would be burn out, and be reborn once more.
Fire symbolizes two things; firemen who burn books and houses which symbolizes destruction and it also symbolizes self-awareness and knowledge.
"Burn all, burn everything. Fire is bright and fire is clean."(451,p 8)
Limited Omniscient Narrator
The book is written in limited omniescient narrator due to the story being mostly narrated on Montag's point of view.
This ends in the reader only perceiving the story from one side of the story which in this case is Montag's point of view.
Dystopia
Being in a city were people are being controlled, were everything around you is burning, and all the things you consider good for society is the opposite, it may not be pleasant which makes the book a Dystopia (imperfect world)
Science Fiction
In a world were technologies like the TV are the base of knowledge and life in general, one can say it is clearly science fiction
She represents nature, free thought and art. In the conversations between Clarisse and Montag, she challenges him to look and feel the world differently. It is his ideas and behavior that ultimately lead Guy Montag to turn his back on society and the ideas around him. She dies early and is revealed to have been killed by a car, and later it is implied that it was the work of a group of young people who also tried to run over Montag without any kind of reason.
