-algia: pain, painful condition
arthralgia: pain in the joint
dys-: bad, difficult or pain
dysplasia: the presence of cells of an abnormal type within a tissue
-ectomy: surgical removal, cutting out
appendectomy: removing of the appendex
hyper-: excessive, increased
hypertension: abnormally low blood pressure
hypo- deficient, decreased
hypoglycemic- low blood sugar

-itis: inflammation
gastritis:inflammation of the lining of the stomach
-osis: abnormal condition, disease
gastrosis: any disease of the stomach
ostomy: the surgical creation of an artificial opening to the body surface
colostomy: surgical operation in which a piece of the colon is diverted to an artificial opening in the abdominal wall so as to bypass a damaged part of the colon.
