-
Review

Note-Taking
LISAN
Signal Words.
Look for key words the professor says to see where the idea is going. Is it ending? Is the prof. giving another example? Starting a new topic?
-
Active Listening.
Come to class with questions from the before lecture, talk to your professor before the class starts about questions, do anything to stay engaged.
-
Note-Taking
Take effective notes, don't try to write down everything the professor says, pick out key concepts you need to grasp.

Lead. Don't Follow.
Before class starts read any material that the teacher assigns before class, read the notes before class, think of questions you may have (reflective questions).
Study Strategies
Study Place
Find a study place that is well-lit, quiet, and most important FREE OF DISTRACTIONS!! Once you find this place do nothing but study there, so every time you go there you are training yourself that is your study place and nothing else.
Spaced Sessions
This consists of larger number of sessions you are studying for a shorter amounts of time. small amounts in a LONGER sessions!
-
Try Mnemonics
Linking new ideas to images or things you understand. Make the mnemonics as exaggerated and bizarre as you can to remember easier when things are far out there.
Testing Yourself
Think of questions about the material and try answering them. You can also make study guide to use, or flash cards, or even practice quizzes. This helps you see what you know and what you need to work on.
-
Overlearn
To better learn the material you should learn more about the topics, this will make you better understand the new topics and familiarize yourself. By over learning you will "know your stuff."
Procrastination
Adventurous Learning
Make the course interesting, if you wait for the course to be interesting you'll miss everything. Interest is a matter of your attitude!
