–Pacific appointments are concentrated on boards with a community focus; Pacific people are less prevalent on boards with an economic, business
–captures gender and ethnicity data by having staff complete a census form when they join
–in 2010, 75% NZ European; 1.8% Asian
–% female: NZ European 73.6%, NZ Maori 11.9%, European 14.3%, Pacific 4.8%, Asian 1.8%, other 0.5%
•so a strategic approach to diversity management within an organisation or strategic business unit needs to heed and influence strategy and relevant external forms of regulation
•these include international labour instruments and recommendations, government and other agencies’ soft/hard policy, legislation, sectoral initiatives, etc.
