New Media: 21st century catchall term to define all that is related to the Internet and the interplay between tech, images and sound - digitised communication and sharing of info
E.g. Internet (webpages, blogs, podcasts, etc) and social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook)
Social Media: subset of new media
--> Means of communication among people in which they create, share and exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks.
