The ocean absorbs most of the carbon dioxide that is released into the atmosphere, and though it might help by diminishing the speed at which global warming escalates, the extreme amounts of CO2 that fill our world are changing the pH level and temperature of the Ocean, and affecting the survival of marine species. Fish are moving deeper into the ocean to escape warm and acidic water. The areas most affected by this are local fishing communities, commercial fisheries (that employ more than 1 million people), and companies like inland Seafood, which is the largest seafood distributor in the Southeastern United States. If nothing is done to reduce the carbon footprint, the fishing industry will be seriously affected.
