Had to be red in churches
Wanted to reconvert country to catholicism
Dismissed Parliament
Replaced by William by parliament plot. James had a bloody nose.
William of Orange and Mary are rulers subject to parliament
English view it as parliament being supreme
Americans see Monarchy Neutered, people supreme
Whigs oppose Charles II

Got their justification from John Locke
Write his Treaties saying king doesn't have all power
Introduced Idea of personal sovereignty
PPeople live in state of nature
Thus make government to protect rights
Government must have consent of governed
If no, abolish government
