Old Testament
Gen 1-2, God began creation with water foreshadowing water as the beginning of spiritual life
Gen 7, God purges the world of evil with rain showing water can wash sin away
Ex 14, Moses baptizes the people in the cloud and sea showing freedom from slavery is similar to Baptism
Dt, crossing the River Jordan represents the new life in the promised land
New Testament
Mt. 3:1-17 Tells us all people must be baptized and through Jesus they can be baptized with the Holy Spirit
Acts 2, Peter explains how repentance leads to Baptism by the Holy Spirit
Mt 28:19, Jesus tells the disiples the formula for how to baptize people.
