Tides
Tides are the periodic rise and fall of the sea surface and are produced by the gravitational pull of the Moon and the Sun (not so much tho).
The Moon pulls the water towards it, creating high tide and there is a compensatory bulge on the other side of the Earth. Between the two high tides, there will be a low tide.
The highest tides occur when the Moon and the Sun are aligned as the gravitational pull is at its strongest.
Twice a month, the Sun and the Moon are at right angles which means the gravitational pull is at its weakest. Therefore, forming a neap tide.
Tidal range
Tidal range influences where wave action occurs, the weathering processes that happen on land exposed between tides and scouring effect of waves on the coastlines.
